Hey Kelly,
It typically depends on insurance company, but from my experience and research, you can have the same policy, but they would need to be insured separately. It really depends who and how the flute is evaluated.

If you add a headjoint to an existing flute body, then they are not part of the same instrument and the replacement value would be determined by different people. Example:

Powell headjoint
Haynes body

You would need to get evaluations of value for both by both makers. You could then insure both together, but their value isn't based by the same people and it could be an added total value based on the body and head joint cost. Yes, you can have them insured together, but you will need to get yearly evaluations based on the value of both. Make sure when you get your replacement value that they know it isn't same make and head joint.

In all of these cases, I'm talking about professional flutes. Yes, you can have insurance on student flutes, but it isn't as likely. Insurance rates are based on replacement value (typically), not what you paid for it. As price of metals increase, you need new revaluations yearly to make sure that they match, otherwise you could be in a position where the replacement cost is $2000 less than an old evaluation. This is just an example, but I hope it helps!!

Unfortunately, I don't read French. I don't know what you said. I know you mentioned the words "amateur flutist" but that is it.

I will try and translate using an online service.

I don't understand about the insurance thing. Will insurance companies not insure your flute as a whole package if you have a replaced headjoint? When I was getting my insurance, I just said that I have x type of flute with a x type of headjoint. Is that what you are talking about?

Merci

Amicalement,
Sylviane.

I found this most helpful. I just placed an order for a glissando. I have been wanting to experiment with sounds for awhile. This gave me more ideas. Thank you.
